I am looking at this Kenmore True HEPA Plasma Air Cleaner" 85501," thats their name for it, and I have heard the process this type of Plasma Product uses is unhealthy. Cna anybody tell me about what this does and what health related effects it has, as well as sources? Details are important for this.
The National Recovery act gave US EPA 7 billion dollars. Colleges lined up for research on air pollution.
The air is dirty with particles and smog and must have bad health affects. Maybe it even kills people.
Many colleges are making millions of dollars from air polllution research.
Do researchers just want to research the problem or find a solution?
Seems to me there is more money in researching the problem then in finding a solution.

Plenty of data there. Read "Where Have All the Leaders Gone" by Iaaccoa and the section on Type 1 diabetes research (pages 208-209). He asks the same basic question.
On March 8, 2011, US Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) spoke on the Senate floor about the dangers that the House Republican budget poses to the health of American children through rollbacks to the Clean Air Act.
Forty years ago, a public health crisis in Birmingham caused by unchecked air pollution motivated a group of young citizens and their allies to act. They organized and formed GASP (Greater Birmingham Alliance to Stop Pollution) and began to advocate for cleaning up the air. Inspired by the passage of the Clean Air Act, the first Earth Day and a desire for change, they succeeded in shaking up the seemingly impenetrable establishment and they paved the way for a healthier, cleaner community. For the 40th Anniversary of the Clean Air Act we honor the efforts and accomplishments of those who fought for healthy air forty years ago, and recognize there is still work to be done.

Is your air purifier sealed like the manufacturers' tout? Be careful which air purifier you buy... you may be blowing your $ away! We provide evidence of one air cleaner, Blue Air, which does not accomplish air purification. It merely blows the dust, like an expensive fan, around your home. Air Wellness™ Power5 Pro™ The absolute standard of excellence in air filtration — combined with "green" technology. The Nikken Air Wellness Power5 Pro features multiple filter stages, including carbon filtration and a unique system that uses organic plant materials to neutralize contaminants. The final stage is a HEPA filter, just like those in hospital operating rooms, high-tech clean rooms and the laboratories of the US National Institutes of Health. Nikken added negative-ion generation to provide forest-air freshness, the exhilarating feeling produced by high levels of negative ions in natural settings. And as with all Air Wellness products, the Power5 Pro is engineered to operate without producing ozone -- the toxic gas created by many home air filters that are now banned in California and other areas. The Power5 Pro features manual or fully automatic modes including sleep and quiet settings, and a sleek, lightweight design. It's Energy Star certified to give you lower operating costs and help preserve the environment.

We have animals and dust and lots of computers. The dust is out of control. I really only want this in my room because that is where most of the dust goes. The room isn't too big.
Definitely don't want to spend more than 500, would that cost me a lot of performance?
So far I see the best are Alive Air Machine, IQAir Health Pro, Blueair 205C. Is this accurate?

The late 1960's proved to be the decisive period for air pollution amelioration efforts. The changes were radical and took place with amazing rapidity. Essentially, the general public itself become aware of and involved in the air pollution question and in the process changed the nature of the anti-pollution movement fundamentally and irrevocably. Public opinion shifted dramatically during the 1960's. Polls showed that air pollution was a minor problem (number 9 of 10 listed national problems) in 1965 but had become the most important problems in the public mind by 1970 (The New York Times 1969). The new attention on environmentalism was triggered by many events: the publication of Rachael Carson's influential Silent Spring, Senator Edward Muskie's 1964 Committee hearings on air pollution around the US and several well publicized ecological disasters. In 1966, some 80 people died in a four-day smog event in the New York City area. Legislation followed closely the wave of public interest. The 1963 Clean Air Act established national policy and set uniform standards for air quality. This was amended by the Air Quality Act of 1967, which set enforcement mandates for the earlier laws and established the National Air Pollution Control Administration that was tasked to enforce air quality standards and administer air pollution research programs. In 1969, the landmark National Environmentalist Protection Act (NEPA) was passed, whose purpose was "restoring and maintaining ...
What are my tenant rights to break my lease? (I live in San Francisco)?
I entered a 1-year lease on the basis it was a non-smoking building, but many other tenants smoke. I complained to my manager and he immediately posted no smoking signs around the building and sent a notice letter to each tenant that no smoking's allowed in tenants' units and building's common areas. The tenants ignored the letter and continue to smoke and it's been negatively affecting my health (eye irritation, congested chest, difficulty breathing). The smoking's so bad, I bought an air purifier and weatherstripped my door to help clean the air. However, the common area's so congested with bad air I feel sick everytime I enter the building. I've made another complaint to my landlord that the smoking hasn't stopped and I'm awaiting his response.
If smoking's banned in the building, why do people smoke anyway? Anyway, if people don't stop smoking and the landlord fails to do anything about it, then I need to
I want to stay in my apt and don't want to create conflict between myself and other residents. I just think it's unfair that people smoke in their units even thought their lease agreements clearly state that it's a non-smoking building. What are my options to facilitate positive change so that I breathe in a smoke-free environment in my building?
I don't care if people smoke because it's their right. I care about what's stated in my lease agreement.
For my case, the Tenant-Landlord Lease Agreement stated that I'd be living in a non-smoking building". IF people had read their lease agreements, they should follow it. People have a choice where to live. I chose a place that's a non-smoking building, but people are violating their lease agreements.
