Could I cut one to size ? or ? are some models better than others, for being able to receive a HEPA filter cut to size ? I am thinking I could just put it in where the regular air conditioner filter goes ?
I live in a condominium in the middle of the city where the pollution is bad.
Should I buy a good air purifier/clear or should I buy a new air conditioner?
I need either of them turned on the whole day to really keep the dust and pollution under control.
The room is always closed but the dust and pollution finds its way inside.
I need to consider the electric bill... cant afford it to be too expensive.
Thanks
I'm a first time homebuyer and I'm buying a home as is, I think I'm getting lucky though because the only big thing on the inspection was having the air conditioner serviced and cleaned. It is a two story home with a 5 ton air conditioner I don't know the brand but I know the coil is in the upper crawlspace and it needs to be cleaned. I have no ideal how much something like this might cost and all the websites want my personal info, so any educated guess would be very helpful.
3 years ago, I had a complete HVAC cut-in on my house. They installed a Lennox 12ACB air conditioner, a Lennox G40UH gas furnace, and an Aprilaire 2400 air cleaner. The systems all run great, but I've never changed any filters. Where are they is the question? I see that the Aprilaire one is easy to change. Is there also one on the A/C or furnace unit?
I have a Yamaha Razz and the guy before me took off the air cleaner, the other day after riding it, he came home shut it off went out about an hour later and it wouldnt even turn over, the engine will spin about 2 inches each way, and you cannot get the kickstarter to move at all even by stepping on it, but the engine will spin about 2 inches each way if you take off the cover and turn the flywheel
I dont smell any gas at all. Now he put a piece of like air conditioner filter foam over the air intake so it wasnt open for debris to get in. I am wondering if the gear to the kickstarter isnt broke, I mean u cant spin the engine with the starter or kicker, but if you turn the flywheel it will move both ways about 2 inches or less
I think that I may be sensitive to outdoor dust near my apartment but I want to maintain fresh air exchange (otherwise it gets "stuffy"). Recently I've thought of putting an electrostatic air conditioner filter (3M Filtrete) to cover my windows (it only costs per filter and it's said to last 2 months). While the filter should reduce airflow somewhat I think I'll still be able to get enough air exchange with it.
Question: If any water/humidity comes into contact with the filter (the filter was originally designed for an air conditioner) will that cause it to lose its electrostatic properties (ie. will it become less effective at trapping dust?).
Is there anything else I should consider before putting in the filter (any undesired effects?)??
this video is about the benefit of clean air...
It is making a fluttering sound whenever I turn on the air conditioner. It sounds like a leaf or some object is touching the fan.
I just got an old air conditioner that was stored in a basement for a long time. It is really dirty and dusty on the inside and has a musty smell when it's on. It blows out of the top and has a lot of dust/dirt in the brisells that you can't get at. Is there any way to clean it out?
I don't have coils just a plastic gate looking thing inside the front panel-is is safe to that wet?
Yea I googled it, but I would like to hear opinions. I'd like to know an effective method of air conditioner filter cleaning that kills any germs that might be there completely. I'm also talking about an air conditioning unit, not central cooling.
Thanks!

Do you really really need to replace the "dust and pollen filter"?
Do you really need to replace the "Air Cleaner Element"
If you don't will this affect the actual running of the Air Conditioner?
thanks.
i have window unit air conditioner/heater. is there a solution available to spray or use other means to deep clean coils without causing damage
We got a used air conditioner from a family member recently (we are tight on money) and while it works great it is a little dirty and has some rust on it. Before we put it in the window I want to clean it. How can I really clean an air conditioner?
My room is 3.5m by 5m and roughly 2.5m in height. My air purifier is roughly the height size of a standard hotel toilet bowl. How long should i switch it on for sleep each night? I sleep in an air-conditioned room where the air-conditioner is turned on at 9pm and i wake up at 6am. My air purifier is one that comes with an ionizer function. I am asking as my air purifier is as noisy as an aircraft carrier and i am hoping to swtich it off after the least time possible for it to carry out its function. Thanks!
Hi, the brand is AMCOR. I have taken apart the machine and cleaned everything possible. There is one general filter that I have replaced with a new general filter. The next layer is the “forever” filter that need not be cleaned. Running the machine with everything taken apart, I have found out the sound is caused by the running of the motor. The model is outdated so it is not listed on AMCOR’s site.
