I understand that a HEPA air filter is able to remove 90% of particulates but does it also purge bad smells?

I use a dry paint brush to sweep the dirt off but it doesn't get it as clean as i would like it to be.
The filter is not that old maybe 3 months.And i do tap it on the side of my sink,a lot comes off that way too.I don't have a compressor
I bought it and it said "washable". The model is H13 I think I determined somehow.
I'm not sure how to wash it. I tried to put water on it and the microfibers, due to surface tension, repel the water droplets.
I washed it with soap and soaked it some and it seems a bit cleaner but there's still some black soot and grime stuck between the folds.

I found in one of her custody motions she stated that I was on Anxiety medications. She broke the law and ignored the Hepa Law. I am very upset she put this in the motion because divorce files are public access and most of all, I am embarresed and she should not have put that in the motion! she isn't a very careful Attorney. I feel like suing her!

All of my family suffers with allergies, I have heard a lot of good things about the Ionic Breese. Recently someone told me that buying that is a waste of money and the Hepa Filter air purifier is better but they did not say why- before I purchase one, I would like some opinions, which is better Ionic Breeze or a Hepa Filter purifier and WHY?? Price is of moderate importance- I want something that will really help with our allergies and is not just a fad. Thank you for serious aswers- I don't care how long the answer is as long as it is informative and honest.
I love the suction on my Dyson vacuum cleaner, but in the last week it started emitting an unpleasant odor (not burning, just dirty). I've cleaned out the canister thoroughly, but there is still smelly air coming out when it's on. Do I need to replace the HEPA filter?

These bags are expensive ( a piece abouts) and I have pets, so they get filled up very quickly.
These aren't the regular paper bags, the material is kind of like the material of diapers, it appears and feels as if the bag is composed of many layers of meshed cotton sheets rather than just the ordinary paper material of most disposable vacuum bags.
I can't use any other bags for my vacuum, so I'm wondering if my vacuum will be harmed if were to dispose of the contents of the bag in order to get a few more uses out it and save some money.
