Quality portable air cleaners at affordable prices
I had the air ducts cleaned years ago and I was told later by somebody that it actually does not imrove air quality or save any energy costs.
Is it better than nothing ??

Is it better i spray a lot of WD40 instead of Carb and Choke cleaner, or Brake Parts Cleaner?
Maybe that is having something to do with my car's intermittent stalls/rough runs at temp, it used to run for hours w/o incident and its very strange.

There was a coupon today in the Valpak for air duct cleaning. Does it really make a difference when they clean them, or is it just a scam?
i bought a stock one to replace the one on there and this one has a hole for a hose on the bottom of the elbow that turns and goes into the engine.....what is that for, or can i just cover it up
I don't understand why you use hot water to wash dishes and all to clean. I understand that it is more sanitary, but why isn't cold water as sanitary?
Cold air is what they keep in hospitals and day cares, because it keeps the air clean. Why isn't hot air as sanitary?
It just doesn't make sense that you use hot water and cold air to keep things clean? Why not cold water and cold air? Why not hot water and hot air?
Our HVAC friend recommended that we consider the Trane CleanEffects system. We have terrible allergies (to the point of replacing wall-to-wall with hardwood) and he thinks it's a great system. We currently use Honeywell room purifiers, however they are really loud and my husband hates it. Since Honeywell is a brand I use and trust, I am trying to find out if there are significant performance and cost differences between the two. From what I gather from the Trane marketing material is that the Trane filter is non-porous creating less pressure drop. Beyond that, I don't know what the difference is in air quality or cost. So I guess I have three questions:
What are the performance differences?
What are the cost (unit, installation, filters) differences?
If you use either of these systems in your own home, what do you love/hate about it?

My basement does not have any air-conditioning ducts, but the apartment does come with a dehumidifier. I often keep my windows closed. I always, always have dust bunnies. I don't think there's much air circulation. Should I get an air purifier like this:

I recently bought a house, and I want to have the ducts cleaned. I've never dealt with this before, so I admit I'm not too savvy on how much to spend. I've noticed vast differences in pricing....some places say they will clean 8 registers and one air return for . Other places I call offer duct cleaning for around 0.
What am I missing here? I want to make sure I get the right service done.

My apartment is extremely stuffy, especially when the heat is on. If I have my ducts/air vents cleaned out (haven't been in at least 7 years), will that help? Also, has anyone had any experience with Sears's services? And how much should I expect to pay for a one-bedroom apartment? Thanks!
The thought occurred to me that in long intercontinental flights lots of people use the bathroom creating unpleasent odors. Over a period of time the smells of so many ppl using the bathrooms should permeate the entire cabin, but thankfully I haven't felt the presence of malodiferous fragances.
Is the air really cleaned? What happens when ppl have colds and spread their germs inside the cabin? Does the air circulation system help or abate this?
I want to know where in Canada has the cleanest air. If you can list more than just one that'd be great too ^^
