I have an Austin Air home air purifier with HEPA filter, and the filter is a large metal drum. Can I recycle this, put it in the regular trash or do I need to call for special pickup?
Doing a research paper about the Clean Air Act of 1970, and I need some information on how it and other legislation can help prevent global warming and acid rain. any help pertaining to this would be much appreciated

I was looking at the Air-O-Swiss website because I wanted to buy something that cleans and humidifies the air. What does an air washer do? What does an air cleaner do? What makes them different?
Ok, this may be a silly question, but if an air purifier is supposed to remove "odors," would it just eliminate all the smell from the air freshener?
Does it make sense to use them in the same room?
Oreck product prices have doubled and tripled over the past couple of years and you just can't afford them anymore. Has anyone tried Windex or something else to clean the metal part of the air purifier? If so, how did it work? Being a smoker, just soaking it in soapy water overnight doesn't cut it. I would appreciate any help you could provide. Thanks.
For those who suffer from allergies to cats, what is the best air purifier for the money? and do you have any research to share?
just me: i would love to know the website you mentioned.
northern: are the filters you spoke of for your heating/cooling unit?
I live in an apt that has a pretty old gas heater. I'm confused as in whether I should use that (which might be cheaper) or get an electric heater. Please provide advice on which would not dry out air as much and keep air clean and which would be more "bang for the buck".
I'm a do it your selfer. I was looking into buying a used commercial carpet extractor for home use and found one for sale by an individual which was modified to also clean chimneys and air vents. He says it has microfilters to prevent contaminants from leaving the vacuum. Is this too good to be true?

I have a Holmes. It's about three feet tall. On the front I feel air blown out, but at the top of the front, i dont feel any blowing. so does it take in air on the top of the front. or does it take it in on the back of the purifier. On the back I feel some kind of cool air around it, but i don't know if its sucking in air or doing nothing
I have to write a paper, and I'm trying to find a topic with automotive industry in it. I was wondering, was the UK the first with the most specific clean air laws? From what I know they charge you a lot in taxes and other things to keep from having a lot of drivers so they have cleaner air? Can anyone keep going with this idea? Or were they following someone else? It's hard trying to figure out who was first with laws like this.
I was wondering if I could use an air purifier recommended for use in rooms up to 418 square feet in a basement that is between 450 and 500 square feet.
Would there be a decrease in performance? If so, how much?
